Claire is a PhD student in the Cohen lab. Her research focuses on mixotrophs, organisms that can perform both photosynthesis and consume other organisms for their energy. She is looking at how various environmental conditions such as nutrients, trace metals, light and temperature can influence mixotrophic metabolisms and their contributions to the carbon cycle.

Claire graduated with her bachelor’s in science from the University of Michigan where she double-majored in Earth and Environmental Science and Ecology, Evolution & Biodiversity.
