On Monday, Oct. 27, Semester at Skidaway students took the ferry to Sapelo Island, Georgia, where they toured the Sapelo Island National Estuarine Research Reserve and the University of Georgia Marine Institute and listened to talks by professionals from both organizations about their job responsibilities and career paths. Students also had the opportunity to tour the Hog Hammock community and Sapelo landmarks, such as the Sapelo Lighthouse.

Semester at Skidaway students are seniors in UGA Franklin College of Arts and Sciences’ Department of Marine Sciences. They spend fall semester at the UGA Skidaway Institute taking courses, conducting research, and participating in field trips to scientifically and culturally relevant locations along the Georgia coast.
