Jackson Schroeder directs public relations and communications at the Skidaway Institute of Oceanography (SkIO). He works to increase SkIO’s visibility through internal and external communications needs, including writing, photography, videography and design. He manages SkIO’s social media channels, runs campus events, such as Evening at Skidaway, and is the editor of the Skidaway Campus Notes external newsletter and SkIO internal newsletter.
He has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ohio University’s Scripps College of Communication and a master’s degree in journalism with a specialization in public relations from the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. Jackson is a native of Savannah, Georgia, where he graduated from Savannah Country Day School.
Prior to UGA SkIO, Jackson worked in public relations for UGA’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, as the editor of a local news publication in Brooklyn, as a content manager for a higher-education startup in New York City, and as a freelance writer primarily for local news publications throughout New York City.
