UGA Skidaway Institute hurricane glider back on the job

An autonomous underwater vehicle or “glider” operated by UGA Skidaway Institute of Oceanography is back at work, collecting data to improve hurricane forecasts. The glider, named Franklin, is operated by UGA Skidaway Institute researcher Catherine Edwards. It was deployed last week in the expected path of Hurricane Isaias.

The glider deployments are coordinated by the Southeast Coastal Ocean Observing Regional Association, which posted this update.
