Hi Mike,
I came across an article online about pollution in the Altamaha River.
As a student in college, Environmental Toxicolgy was a favorite class of mine at App State. I was in class during a major coal ash spill nearby in Tennessee, and I got to witness the environmental impacts at ppm and ppb.
Apparently, the pollution in the Altmaha river is extensive, and if there is anything I can do, I would be ready to help tackle this terrible problem. Hopefully, I am not the only one who is concerned about this issue!
Maybe there are grad students in your program who would be willing to invest into the environmental impact.
